Credentialing/Licensing The Respiratory Care
program is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health
Education Program (CAAHEP).
Students graduating from the Respiratory Care Program are eligible to take both
the entry level and advanced practitioner credentialing examinations offered by
the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). Upon completion of the program,
graduates MUST take and pass the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
examination for entry into professional practice (This examination is used by 48
states to meet state licensing requirements). After successful completion
of the Certified Respiratory Therapist examination, the graduates are eligible
to attempt the two-part Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) examination. Upon
successful completion of these registry examinations, graduates are designated
as Registered Respiratory Therapists. Graduates from the program are eligible to
apply to the South Carolina State Board of Medical Examiners for state
licensing. |
