- Add courses to your Preferred Sections list
- Register for courses from the Preferred Sections list
From the main MTC Online Student Menu, click on "Register for Classes". From this screen, you may add courses to your Preferred Sections list by selecting either "Search and Add" or "Express Addition".
- How to use "Search and Add" to add courses to your Preferred Sections list
- Select "Term"
- Select "Subject"
- Leave "Course Level" blank
- Select "Course Number" or leave blank
- Select "Section No" or leave blank
- Select "Location"
- If desired, select days of the week you wish to attend (Example: Mon, Wed, Fri or Tue, Thu)
- Click "Submit" ONCE (If you attempt to add a course and section to your Preferred Sections list that you have already registered for, this process will fail and none of your selections will be added to your Preferred Sections list.)
- On the next screen, place a check-mark in the box under "Select Section(s)" column for the course section you wish to add to your Preferred Sections list.
- Click "Submit" At this point, you have ADDED the course to your Preferred Sections list. You HAVE NOT registered. See Step 2 instructions below on how to register for courses from your Preferred Sections list. You may go directly to Step 2, #3 and register at this point, or log out and come back later and start with Step 2, #1 to register.
- How to use "Express Addition" to add courses to your Preferred Sections list
If you know the 5 digit synonym or course ID for a course, or the subject, course number and section number of a course, you may use Express Addition. Click on "Express Addition"- To use synonym to register
- Enter the 5 digit synonym for the course
- Press "Submit"
At this point, you have ADDED the course to your Preferred Sections list. You HAVE NOT registered. See instructions below on how to register for courses from your Preferred Sections list.
- To use subject, course number and section
- Enter the Subject (Example: COL, MAT)
- Enter the Course number (Example: 035, 100, 101, 102)
- Enter the Section (Example: A01, B01, A=Airport, B=Beltline)
- Select "Term" from the Term drop-down box
- Press "Submit"
At this point, you have ADDED the course to your Preferred Sections list. You HAVE NOT registered. See instructions below on how to register for courses from your Preferred Sections list.

- How to register for one course at a time
- In the "Action" column, click on "RG-Register" by ONE of the courses you wish to register for
- Click "Submit"
- Repeat process for all other classes you wish to register for.
If registration was successful, the class you are registering for will move from the "Preferred Sections" to the "Current Registrations" section of the screen. If there is a problem, using the information provided on this screen, try to register for the class again. You may have to add another class to your preferred list if there is a time conflict or some other similar reason before registering.
- How to register for all courses at once
Note: If there are ANY problems with time conflicts, prerequisites, etc, this option will FAIL. None of the courses from your Preferred Sections list will be registered.- Select "RG-Register in the "Action for ALL Pref. Sections" drop-down box.
- Click "Submit"
If registration was successful, the class you are registering for will move from the "Preferred Sections" to the "Current Registrations" section of the screen. If there is a problem, using the information provided on this screen, try to register for the class again. You may have to add another class to your preferred list if there is a time conflict or some other similar reason before registering.
- How to remove a course from your Preferred Sections List
- To remove a course from your "Preferred Sections" list, in the drop-down box in the "Actions" column, click on "RM-Off of preferred list" and click "Submit". This will remove the course from your "Preferred Sections" list.
