How To Login to MTC Online
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records; however, these rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level (regardless of the age of the student). The transfer of these rights to the student means that parents/guardians must obtain permission from the student to access MTC Online when the parent/guardian wants to use MTC Online services, such as paying fees online. |
Your User ID
Your MTC Online User ID is determined by your first name followed by your middle initial and your last name as stored in our system. For example, if you are John J. Doe, your User ID would be “johnjdoe” (in lower case with no spaces).
For students who do not have a middle initial on file with the Office of the Registrar, the User ID is determined by only the first name and last name. For example, if you are listed in the system as Jane Doe, your User ID would be “janedoe” (in lower case with no spaces).
Below are samples of valid and invalid formats for User IDs.
| Student’s Name | User ID | Comments |
| John J. Doe | johnjdoe | valid |
| Jane Doe | janedoe | valid |
| John J. Doe | JohnJDoe | invalid – Uppercase letters not allowed |
| John J. Doe | johnj.doe | invalid – punctuation not allowed |
| Jane Doe | jane doe | invalid – spaces not allowed |
| Jane Doe | jane.doe | invalid – punctuation not allowed |
Your Password
Your Password is your date of birth in mmddyy format if you are logging in to MTC Online for the first time. For example, if your date of birth is December 25, 1980, your initial password would be 122580. If you reset your password, the system will create a random, temporary password and email the temporary password to you.
Upon the first log in to MTC Online, or after any reset of your password, you will receive a message indicating your password has expired. For security reasons you will be required to select a new password to replace the initial or reset password.
Password Rules
When changing an expired password, the system requires the following:
Below are samples of valid and invalid passwords.
| Password Value | Comments |

| Bahn75ayn | valid |
| darH82b | valid |

EXAMPLES
Example 1: A student with the name John J. Doe and a birth date of April 20, 1978, who has never logged in to MTC Online would use the following:
| User ID | Password | Comments |
| johnjdoe | 042078 | Upon logging in, the student will see a message indicating the password has expired. The student will be required to change his password in order to continue. |
Example 2: A student with the name Diane Lee (no middle initial) and a birth date of May 18, 1982, who has never logged in to MTC Online would use the following:
| User ID | Password | Comments |
| dianelee | 051882 | Upon logging in, the student will see a message indicating the password has expired. The student will be required to change his password in order to continue. |
Example 3: A student with the name Jane L. Doe and a birth date of June 3, 1975, who could not remember her password requested to have the password reset. The new temporary password was emailed to the student; therefore, the student will first need to read the email from MTC Online to find out the new temporary password and then use that value during the log in process. In this example, assume the email sent by MTC Online indicated that the password was randomly set to “foo652bar”. In this situation, this student will use the following:
| User ID | Password | Comments |
| janeldoe | foo652bar | Upon logging in, the student will see a message indicating the password has expired. The student will be required to change his password in order to continue. |
SPECIAL NOTE FOR STUDENTS WHO APPLIED PRIOR TO JUNE 2006 AND NEVER LOGGED ON TO MTC ONLINE
If a student applied to MTC prior to June 2006 and is unable to log in using the above instructions, student should try logging in using the last six (6) digits of their Social Security numbers.
If after verifying a student's User ID and password and the student is still unable to log on to MTC Online, students may stop by one of the Online Services Centers located on the Airport (ASC 222) and Beltline (BSC 226) Campuses between the hours of 8:00am - 6:30pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00am-4:30pm on Friday, unless otherwise posted or the college is closed for holidays, for assistance.
