The Mathematics Department at MTC is committed to providing quality mathematics instruction that will prepare students to earn a four-year degree from a senior college or university.

We offer college transfer courses in College Algebra (MAT 110), College Trigonometry (MAT 111), Probability and Statistics (MAT 120), Finite College Mathematics (MAT 122), Elementary Calculus (MAT 130), Discrete Mathematics (MAT 132), Analytic Geometry and Calculus I (MAT 140), Analytic Geometry and Calculus II (MAT 141), Advanced Statistics (MAT 220), Analytic Geometry and Calculus III (MAT 240), Differential Equations (MAT 242), Elementary Mathematics (MAT 250)* and Elementary Mathematics II (MAT 251). In addition to our college transfer offerings, we also serve all other programs at MTC by providing the mathematics instruction needed for each program.

Currently, we participate in a grant by the National Science Foundation called SCAMP (South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation). Minority students willing to seriously consider pursuing a four-year degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or one of the natural Sciences (excluding Biology) may qualify for a tuition scholarship. In addition, we sponsor other activities to assist students in reaching their desired goal. SCAMP students transferring into a SMET program at USC qualify for a $500 tuition scholarship during their first term at USC.
