What is the purpose of the forum? It is a place for you to confer with your fellow classmates. You may discuss anything with each other you want - within reason - that is astronomy related. Your professors may drop by on occasion, but to contact them, you should use the email page of the website. I suggest you use it to post questions you have about the chapter or related work and also go there to help out fellow classmates who are lost or confused. Don't give answers - but give helpful hints or directions. If you discover a new or interesting astronomy website, then come to the forum and share it.

How often must I post? That is up to you. If you post more than once a week - discussing astronomy from your readings or related work with your fellow students, then you are taking full advantage of the forum and will benefit from it. How? Because I read the posts, even though the forum is for student-to-student communications. Names that I see often will be marked in my records and considered for some final extra credit consideration when I am determining grades.

What if I have a question for you? Email me using the email page of the website, but you might want to check out the other FAQs to make sure your question is not already answered.

4

Will posts made on the weekends count? Yes, posts anytime during the 7-day week at any hour will count!

5

When are posts removed or deleted? The forum will be cleansed or purged (deleted of posts) about the end of every 1 or 2 weeks and during the testing periods. So as not to miss out on announcements or Q&A exchanges, visit the forum often.

I posted something that I would now wish I hadn't. What may I do? Just e-mail me and request that I remove it. Give me the subject and date so I may easily find it. I'll be happy to help.

Are there any times we should not post questions and answers on the forum? For Labs – No, you may post questions anytime on anything pertaining to the labs. You may post before during and after the due date. For Tests – Yes, you may only post questions & answers on the forum before or after the testing period; however, once testing starts, no one is allowed to post questions or answers or comments pertaining to the test or the testing material until the testing period is complete. You may post about other astronomy topics during this period however.

How can I post a link to a website on the forum? Simply type in the website's URL into your test such as http://www.midlandstech.edu/ and make sure you include the http:// such that it will be activated by the forum. Once you see your post, the website's URL will be active. I recommend you right-click on it and choose "Open in a New Window".

What do I do if I have nothing to post on the forum? That is not possible. There is no way someone can read the chapter and solve problems from the text and elsewhere without having questions. If you have nothing to post, that more or less means you have not been doing much.
