POSITION: INSTRUCTOR, ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

DEPARTMENT: Information Systems Technology LOCATION: Airport and Beltline

WORK HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; may require some evening and weekends

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Teaches, supervises and evaluates students in the Administrative Office Systems Technology (AOT) Program in the Information Systems Technology (IST) Department; participates in curriculum development and revision; assists with academic advising; evaluates students’ progress; keeps accurate records and submits pertinent information on students; participates in faculty meetings and attends college functions; remains active in administrative office technology and related organizations and attends workshops and other educational offerings in order to continue to upgrade teaching; follows institutional policies, procedures and authority; assists in special projects and maintains good working relations with supervisor and peers; may be required to teach classes at multiple campuses and off-campus sites, including high schools; some evenings and weekends may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must possess a Doctorate’s or Master’s Degree in the teaching discipline of Business Education/Administrative Office Technology, Computer Technology or a Master’s degree in a related discipline with concentration in one of the aforementioned teaching disciplines (to include a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline) . Must possess excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in all administrative office technology subject matter to include administrative office procedures, information/records management, office communications, machine transcription, keyboarding (all levels), and the ability to teach application and system software for word processing, desktop publishing, database, spreadsheets, graphic design; knowledge and ability to provide instruction in legal and/or medical office systems and procedures desired. The candidate will be required to demonstrate a successful thirty (30) minute teaching demonstration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three (3) years post-secondary teaching experience.
