Alanna Jones is eighteen years old and is in the twelfth grade at Dutch Fork High School in Irmo. Alanna plans to be a doctor some day, and she will be going to Clemson in the fall where she will major in biological sciences. Alanna’s mom, Joy, is a teacher at Midlands Technical College, and her father, Bobby, is an engineer at Michelin North America.

Alanna’s favorite thing to do is to spend time with her friends or her boyfriend Andy. She also likes to read, to shop, to listen to music, and to dance. She is active in Beta Club, Interact, National Honor Society, the school newspaper, and the SAT team. While she is looking forward to graduation and Senior Prom, one of the most exciting things in her future is participating in the President’s Youth Council on Medicine. She will spend two weeks this summer (after GEAR UP Summer Academy, of course) in San Francisco, California, studying with doctors who are considered the tops in their fields
