Joy Jones

Joy Jones is an English instructor and Writing Center tutor at Midlands Technical College. Before coming to MTC, she taught at Greenville Technical College in Greenville, SC, Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, AL, Kent State University at Kent, OH, and Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, KS. She is married to Bobby Jones, Head of Industrial Engineering for the Textile Division of Michelin North America. Their proudest accomplishment is their daughter Alanna, also a staff member of MTC GearUp. Joy says that working for Gear Up is one of her favorite things because of the wonderful staff and students she gets to be around. Each one of the students is like a story that hasn't been written yet, and she hopes that Gear Up will make positive differences in the students' lives by helping them to become empowered adults. There are few experiences on earth that equal being hugged by a Gear Up student!
