The Distance from the New Planet to its Moons
Using methods very similar to the determination of the diameter of the new planet, the distance from both moons to the planet were found to be 3,100 miles for the inner moon and 6,200 miles for the outer moon. These measurements were actually a major step towards eventually determining the mass and then the surface gravity of the new planet.
