So, You Want to Be a Teacher? From MTC |
|
Thanks to the Pathways Project, students planning a teaching career can begin their degree at Midlands Tech and finish at USC. The project includes transfer agreements between institutions, advisement information, education courses to be offered at MTC, early clinical experience, and test preparation for the PRAXIS I (PPST) examination. What is a “transfer agreement”? In general, a transfer agreement lists the courses you can take at Midlands Tech that are both appropriate and accepted by the institution where you plan to transfer. As an aspiring teacher here at Midlands Tech, you can access transfer agreements for the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School teaching programs at USC by clicking the "Advisement" links on the left. However, as you plan your coursework at Midlands Tech, it is advised that you contact USC’s College of Education and the SC Department of Education regarding education courses and field experience needed for high school certification. Since 60 semester hours are required before you can apply for admission into the Professional Program, additional coursework may be necessary. Upon completing 60 credit hours, the candidate must meet or complete the following:
