Deciding on what college or university to attend is a key step in the equation of enrolling into a post secondary school. When choosing a college or university that is best for you, you should consider these questions.
Here are a few questions to consider in deciding what kind of a college interests you:
- Is the location important?
- Would you prefer a small town or a large city?
- Would you prefer a college close to home or far away?
- Would you prefer a small college (100-2500 students) medium sized (2500-7500) or large university (7500 +)?
- Would you prefer single-sex or co-educational?
- Would you prefer living on campus or commuting?
- Will participation in specific extracurricular activities be important (newspaper, student government, fraternity/sorority)?
- Do you want to play intercollegiate sports?
- Will you be eligible for an academic scholarship?
- How important is cost? Financial aid?
- Are you more interested in the development of technical or vocational skills?
- Will you need support services (study skills, counseling, disability)?
- Will you be able to exempt college courses by taking Advanced Placement Courses?
- Would you like to participate in a co-op program, alternating work with classes?
- Is accreditation of the academic program or of the institution you would like to attend important?
- Would attending a church-related institution be important to you?
