MTC Advisor Application

The MTC Advisor Application is a program that will display the related undergraduate credit course information of a student like the STAC screen in Colleague.

 

To access the MTC Advisor Application, go to the  “MTC Online for Faculty and Advisors” and click on the “MTC Advisor Application” link on the “Advisor Menu”.

 

If the browser displays a grey screen, perform a one time installation of JRE for the PC using the Appendix - A instructions.

 

If this screen pops up, click on the “YES” button.

 

The program will display the following pop-up screen:

 

 

Enter the Web Advisor username and password (username is “adv”, the first 4 characters for the last name and last 6 digits of the SSN).

 

Click on “Connect” button.

If the browser displays a grey screen, perform a one time installation of JRE for the PC using the Appendix - A instructions.

 

The program will return the related information similar to the following screen:

 

 

Use the scroll bar on the right side of the screen to access any additional available information.

 

To process another student, click on the “New Student” button.

To exit, either close the window or select “Exit” from the “File” drop down menu.

One-time JRE Installation Instructions

 

If you encounter problems during this installation, contact the IRM Help Desk at extension 7888.

 

  1. Before installing any software, be sure all processing windows are closed and verify that any anti-virus software is not running.

 

  1. Verify your Internet Explorer (IE) browser version is 5.5 or higher.   Access the “Help” drop down box in your browser window and click on “About Internet Explorer” to view the version number. 
    1. To update the IE browser version, access the “File Download” web page located in the upper left hand corner on the MTC Intranet ( http://inside.mid.tec.sc.us ).
    2. Click on the link for “Internet Explorer (setup instructions)” and follow the directions on the screen.

 

  1. Access the “File Download” web page located in the upper left hand corner on the MTC Intranet ( http://inside.mid.tec.sc.us ).

  2. Click on the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4.2 link.



  3. Click on the link to download and install the JRE.

 

  1. When this screen is displayed, click on the “Open” button.

 

 

 

  1. If this warning screen appears, click on the “Continue” button.

 

 

  1. When this screen appears, click on the button to accept the terms.  Then, click on the “Next” button.

 

 

 

 

  1. When this screen appears, select “Typical” and click the “Next” button.

 

 

From this point forward, do not interrupt this install process!  The process may appear to hang but it is still processing.

 

  1. When this screen appears, click the “Finish” button.

 

 

 

  1. When this screen appears, click “Yes” to reboot the PC.  Once the PC has rebooted and you may return to the MTC Online and try to run the Advisor Application again (see the instructions at the top of this document).
