PRE-PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT PROGRAM
Phase I

DESCRIPTION:
A program designed to provide the opportunity for completion of the first year of general education requirements.

BEGINNING SEMESTER: FALL, SPRING, SUMMER

CAMPUS: Airport


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Completion of the Pre-Health Care Certificate with a 2.5 GPA or higher
OR
HOBET Composite 50% Reading 50%, Math 50%, Algebra 50% MTC Writing Sample of 30 Within 3 years of applying to program
OR
SAT Total 910 Verbal 430; MAT 440 MTC Writing Sample of 30 Within 3 years of applying to program
OR
ACT Composite 20 minimum English 18; Reading 21;
Math 22; Science 24
MTC Writing Sample of 30 Within 3 years of applying to program
OR
Completion of an Associate Degree or higher from a regionally accredited school.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 19 semester credit hours is required for graduation. A minimum grade of "C" must be attained in all curriculum courses.

PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. Acceptance into this program does not guarantee acceptance into the PTA program.
  2. Students must meet all the specific entrance requirements of their program choice in order to be considered for acceptance.
  3. It is the student's responsibility to insure that all of the following requirements have been met in order to be considered for PTA Phase II:
    1. Application to Midlands Technical College.
    2. Two (2) copies of complete high school and college transcripts.
    3. Advisement by PTA Program Faculty.
    4. Twenty (20) hours of observation in at least two (2) physical therapy activities. (10 acute, 10 other)
    5. Completion of appropriate DVS course(s) prior to enrollment in curriculum courses for those scoring below the cutoff on the placement test.
    6. All other requirements as outlined in the college catalog.
    7. Interview with PTA Admissions Committee for PHASE II or Merit Admission.
  4. Due to the time limit on math and science courses (after 3 - 5 years you must refresh BIO) it is recommended that BIO 210 & 211, MAT 120 and AHS 102 be postponed until the end of Phase I (PRE-PTH6).
