MECHANICAL SYSTEMS CERTIFICATE

Certificate in Engineering Technology (MS6)

opens new browser windowOpens a new browser window

DESCRIPTION:
Mechanical systems includes mechanical power transfer mechanisms, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) design, electrical system layout, and fluid systems such as plumbing for buildings and hydraulic power devices. The complexity of these systems often require that 3-dimensional computer models, physical models called prototypes and computer simulations be developed to assure that the systems function correctly. This process requires design technicians to be able to analyze system requirements as well as be capable of using sophisticated computer software such as 2-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) software and 3-dimensional modeling software.

The Mechanical Systems Certificate prepares students for employment as entry-level technicians capable of supporting the 2D and 3D CAD and modeling requirements of most mechanical or electrical systems design firms.

The Building Systems, Compute Aided Design, Mechanical Systems, Manufacturing, and Rapid Prototyping Certificates may be combined together with general education courses to obtain an Associate in Occupational Technology Degree in Design and Manufacturing.
