DESCRIPTION:
People's lives often depend on the quick response and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and EMT-Paramedics. Tragedies such as automobile accidents, falls, heart attacks, burns, water accidents, even explosions or gunshot wounds all require immediate medical attention. Paramedics provide comprehensive and advanced emergency care and, when needed, transport the patient to a medical facility.

EMT-Paramedics provide the most extensive pre-hospital care for sick or injured people. Paramedics are trained to perform advanced evaluation and to perform procedures such as administer drugs, interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs), care for respiratory and cardiac emergencies, and use monitors and other high-tech equipment.

Midlands Technical College offers the most advanced level of training in the field of Emergency Medical Technology, EMT-Paramedic. At this level, the student receives training in Anatomy and Physiology as well as advanced medical skills. Now, most often, the training is conducted in technical and community colleges. The three-semester curriculum at Midlands Tech gives students a balanced set of experiences in the classroom, laboratory and clinical settings. You'll complete training at local and regional hospitals. Also, you will gain exciting real-world experience with local EMS services by engaging in field internships. The end result of this training is a graduate who is fully prepared to enter the workforce.

BEGINNING SEMESTERS: Fall, Spring

CAMPUS: Training may be conducted on the Airport Campus, regional training centers, hospitals, or other clinical settings.
