DESCRIPTION:
A program designed to provide courses in the theory and practice pertaining to the installation, maintenance and repair of residential and light commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment. The diploma in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Mechanics is the first year of the Associate Degree.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 47 semester hours is required for graduation.  

PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. Core courses must be taken in the sequence specified in the catalog.
  2. Early in the program, students will be required to purchase hand tools and personal safety equipment (approximate cost: $650.00).
  3. Graduates of 2 year high school HVAC/R programs within Midlands Technical College's service area are covered by an articulation agreement which allows the student to exempt the first semester of HVAC/R courses by taking a test and with the approval of the department head. Graduates of programs outside of the service area may be exempted with the approval of the department head.
  4. Graduates of this program can expect to enter fields which encompass the planning, installation, operation and maintenance of a wide variety of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating equipment.

EVENING PROGRAM NOTES:

  1. Program takes approximately three years to complete.
  2. New students are admitted during the Fall Semester for the evening program.
