Narrow Your Search

In your Junior year, you looked at the different types of school and what they have to offer. Now is the time to narrow your search down to 3 to 5 possible colleges you want to attend. Be sure you have made your matches that will best lead you to your final educational goals.

If the school you have applied to offers EARLY ADMISSION, adhere to the deadlines and be sure to take the required exams. If essays are required, have your parent, guidance counselor or teacher review your writing. They may be able to offer advice that will help your essay be noticed above other applicants.

Most colleges’ ADMISSIONS DEADLINES fall between January 1 and February 15. Some colleges have “rolling admissions” that allow admissions to occur for longer periods of time. Be sure you find out and adhere to the deadlines of the colleges you have selected.

PAYING FOR COLLEGE is one of the most important determining factors in deciding which college you will attend. Find out each college’s requirements for determining your eligibility for scholarships, grants, work, loans and other programs that will help foot the bill. Most schools require, at least, submission of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA can be submitted as early as January 1 prior to beginning your senior year. Remember EARLY APPLICANTS have the best chances of receiving the best offers.
