What are some free resources to assist my student with their success in a postsecondary environment?
- Check out the free resources available through Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology – otherwise known as DO-IT, online at http://www.washington.edu/doit. Here you will find great information in the links College Preparation Resources for Students and Resources for Parents and Mentors.
- Other resources are available through the National Center on Secondary Education and Transition online at www.ncset.org. The March 2002 Parent Brief, “Parenting Post-secondary Students with Disabilities: Becoming the mentor, advocate and guide your young adult needs” has suggestions on encouraging your student to advocate for themselves in their new environment.
