Hi all! Welcome to my page!

Let me take the time to introduce myself… I am Deneen D. (All my life MANY have been unable to properly pronounce Deneen so don’t feel too bad if you are having a hard time. You are NOT alone.) My name is French so please note that it should be pronounced with the long E sound – like Dee-neen. No R or A sounds please.

Ok, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…

I am proud to be a Midlands Technical College student. Going to MTC has been a great decision for me and I have no regrets. I’m a Maroon & Bronze Mustang ALL the way!!!

I started at MTC right after high school. I did well my first year (3.5 GPA) and was inducted into PTK, the national two year college honor society. Unfortunately I could not continue at MTC the next school year; there were many personal circumstances that came about in my life that would not allow me the time, energy or ability of focus needed to continue to perform at the high level in which I hold myself accountable. After a few years of not going to college and getting things strait in my personal life I realized that I was ready to go back to school, seek my degree, and pursue my dreams. Once again I chose MTC.

I was very active in high school (clubs & organizations), I made good grades (graduated with a 3.5 GPA), and I was very involved in the community through my church (choirs, Sunday school & youth departments). Most people would wonder why someone like me would choose to go to MTC over a big university. Many people would wonder why I would return to MTC after being out of the college system for some time.

I chose to be an In-Focus writer because I want to share my journey. Why have I made the decisions I’ve made, and why do I feel the way that I do about MTC? What are the things anyone (prospective or any student) needs to know about MTC college life?

These are just a few of the many kinds of topics and questions I will be writing on.
So…

  • Do you want to learn about clubs, and student organizations?
(ways to get involved, finding your fit, being social, etc.)
  • Do you want to know about services that are available to you at the college?
(counseling, special needs, testing, advisement, etc.)
  • Does the whole process of going to college make you nervous?
(selecting classes, figuring out your major, financial aid, scholarships, etc.)

DON’T PANIC!!!

I want to vent positivity to you.

It is my hope that my words help anyone who is willing to read find the assurance, encouragement, and the optimism they need to make positive decisions that will impact good changes in their lives.

Education is unavoidably needed in today’s world.
I encourage you to make the right choice for you.
