Objective: The project for the course is to create a
set of web pages (integrated into a web site), with an overall
theme. The theme can be related to any interest or
topic.
Note: topic and pictures should not include
profanity, pornography or material that can be generally
considered offensive.
Website Plan: Before starting your project website
development you must first complete a Website Plan.
- Refer to the
Website Planning PowerPoint presentation.
- Complete the
Website Planning Form.
This form is required as part of your final project, so
make certain it is complete and accurate.
- Submit sketches (graphical or hand-drawn) via printout
to show a visual display of the major elements included on
each page in your website. All sketches should be completed
on blank white paper. You can submit a either 1) a
different sketch for each page, or; 2) a one-page sketch as
a template with the major items that will be included on all
pages. If you choose option 2, you must submit a listing of
content that will be included on each individual page
(separate from your one-page sketch).
Website Development:
- All pages in the site must be linked!. All pages
must include links to all other pages.
- This project will include two review
phases. The submitted project will be for a grade that
counts for 40% of the student's final grade.
- Review #1 will be a review of the
Website Plan & the basic page layout/design for your
site
- Review #2 will be a review of the
site development to include at least three linked pages
- A grading scale in the form of a scoring checklist is
provided so that there is a clear understanding of how
grades are to be assigned. Use the scoring checklist to
guide development (and trouble-shooting) of your web site.
See Project
Scoring & Grading below.
- NOTE: All pages are to be HAND CODED. Use
Notepad or a similar text editor program. WYSIWYG code
generators may NOT be used. If the instructor determines
that a program such as Microsoft FrontPage or Macromedia's
Dreamweaver has been used, this will be deemed as
cheating, and a grade of Zero will be assigned.
- Upload all pages to the MTC server location (More
info on this later).
- Always save your working files on a backup
disk/removable drive.

Project Scoring & Grading:
Since the project is 40% of your final grade it is very
important that you complete ALL items on the Project
Grading Form. Items not included will be scored against
the total!
Use the Project Grading Form as your guide as you
develop your Web pages to insure you have included all
required items.
