Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance program
- The IST Department is a member of the MSDNAA, so students taking courses in the IST Department are allowed to
get copies of most programming-related software from Microsoft for free or a nominal fee. The Microsoft Office
suite of programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, among others, is not available
through this program, although Access, which is more programming related, is available.
See some of the software that is available.
- Students and faculty may request an account on the IST MSDNAA Website, where they can order CDs with
Visual Studio 2003, Windows XP Professional, Project and/or Visio for the cost of the media and shipping and
handling, or download CD and DVD images to burn themselves. To request an account, email martinb@midlandstech.edu
from the email address you want to use for this with MSDNAA in the subject line.
- For these and other titles, students and faculty who do not wish to
download and burn their own CDs may arrange to check out CDs on a temporary basis to
install on their own computers and then return the CDs for others to check out. To do this, also email
martinb@midlandstech.edu with MSDNAA in the subject line,
and include the software you are requesting.
- Some CPT and IST prefix courses are not in the IST Department, but rather in
the Engineering Department. Students must be
taking IST Department courses in order to qualify for this software.
