Navigation Summary
If you would like instructions on how to log into your WebCT course
for the first time, please view
the Log On to a WebCT Course page.
Once you are registered for online classes, upon
logging in you will see the My WebCT screen which displays your name and
lists course titles of all the courses for which you're registered.
The MyWebCT screen also informs you when there are
new mail, new discussion postings, and new quizzes or exams.
Announcements can also be found on your MyWebCT screen. These display
important information provided by the local WebCT administrator. They
can include information about accessing your courses, the WebCT student
support site, and Helpdesk contact information.
The Homepage at a glance
After clicking on the title of the course you wish
to access, the first screen that you see is the Homepage of your course.

Your WebCT course is identified by a course number and course title.
Your instructor can customize the HomePage for the course and may
include an introductory paragraph about where to begin the course as
well as instructor name, email address and virtual office hours.
From the Homepage you can navigate to any point in your course
quickly and easily.
The Homepage includes the following features:
- Breadcrumb navigation that shows your location within the course
at all times.
- A Left hand Navigation Bar that provides you with quick and easy
navigation around your course.
- A Menu Bar at the top of your screen giving you constant access to
elements such as MyWebCT, Resume Course, Course Map, and
Help.
MyWebCT- Allows you to see a list of courses in which you are
registered.
Resume Course- Allows you to resume your place in the Course.
Course Map - Allows you to view the structure of the entire
course on one page. The course elements are hyperlinks, enabling you to
go to any place in the course from a single page. This tool simplifies
navigation and is especially useful for courses with a large number of
elements
Help- Links you to the context-sensitive online
On the Menu Bar at the left of your screen you will see:
Show/Hide Navigation Toggle- When you click on this toggle, it
hides the Navigation Bar and expands the Content area. This is useful
for students with 15 or 17-inch monitors because it makes it possible to
hide the left navigation bar and expand the mainframe area of the course
content. Because it is a toggle, when you wish, you can click to change
it back from Hide to Show.
Course Menu - This serves as a course menu and provides
access to the most important components of your course. It also provides
quick access to specific WebCT tools designated by your instructor. The
word HomePage will always appear under the Course Menu.
Clicking on the word HomePage will always take you back to the
HomePage, and your instructor may also add course specific icons to
the Course Menu, such as the Syllabus, an Orientation,
Lessons and Assignments, Discussion, Private Mail or other WebCT
course tools such as Quiz and Calendar. Clicking on any of
these course specific titles will take you directly to that area of the
course.
Chat Session
Chat is one of the many tools that WebCT makes available. Chat allows
instructor and students to have real-time conversations. Instructor and
students must be online at the same time to conduct a real time chat.
Your instructor may designate specific dates and times to meet online
and conduct a chat.
There are four general-purpose chat rooms and one general forum for
the course. Conversations in the four general-purpose rooms are
recorded, so the instructor can see the records for grading purposes.
