WebCT
Email with Attachment
When you don't want
to send information to a group, WebCT gives you the option of exchanging
private email with your classmates and the instructor of your WebCT course.
It lets you send file attachments with your email, too. Here's how.

From the WebCT
course page, click on the Private Mail Icon.

Note that
it may be called something slightly different, like Private
e-mail or Classroom Mail, and the icon may
not be the same (instructors sometimes customize to their own
preferences). But, whatever the label, it all functions in the
same way.

Click on Compose
Mail Message.

Click on the
Browse button to select the person or persons to
whom you wish to send your e-mail message.

A list of
the people to whom you can send a message displays. This list
will consist of just the instructor and classmates for the particular
course that you're taking.

With your
mouse, left click on the name of the person you want to send the
e-mail to.
You
can send the message to more than one person. To do so, highlight
the name of the first person while holding down the Ctrl
key on your keyboard, and then click on the names of the other
people you want to send the message to.
*Please note
that the only way you can send e-mail through WebCT is by selecting
names from this box. If you type in an individual's name, it will
not work.
Also note that this email only allows you to send messages to
the instructor and your classmates for your class. You cannot
use this email to send messages to people in your other online
classes or outside of WebCT.

Click Done.

Type a subject
for your mail message in the Subject box. (This
is a required field.)

Type in a
message in the Message box.

Be extra careful
with your spelling as there is no Spell Checker in WebCT. Skip
the next step if you'll want to add an attachment before sending
your message.

Click on the
Send button to send your message, or proceed for
instructions on how to add an attachment.

Click on the
Browse button located at the bottom right hand side of
your screen.

Click on the
down arrow beside the Files of type box.

Double click
to select All Files (*.*).

Navigate to
the directory that contains the file you want to attach.

Locate and
click on the file that you want to attach to your Mail Message.

Once your
file has been selected, click on the Open button.

After clicking
on the Open button, you will notice that the path
to the file you are attaching is now being shown beside the Browse
button.

Click on
the Attach file button.

Once the file
has been attached, you will see the file name listed under the
Attach file button.

Note that
you can attach more than one file to a message. To attach more
files, follow steps 9 - 17. When you have finished attaching all
the files, go to step 18.
Click on the
Send button to send your message.
