Admission Requirements
Beyond the general admission requirements to Midlands Technical College
(see MTC Handbook), the college's placement tests and admissions'
requirements for the Health Sciences department (See MTC Handbook), specific
admission criteria to the Dental Hygiene or Expanded Duty Dental Assisting
program include:
Pre-Dental Hygiene:
- Acceptable interview eligibility criteria:
- SAT 910 (minimum verbal 430) and MTC writing
sample score of 30; or
- ACT 19 (minimum verbal 18) and MTC writing
sample score of 30; or
- HOBET 50 composite percent (minimum reading 50
percent; mathematics 50 percent) and MTC writing sample score of 30;
or
- Successful completion of the
Pre-Health Care
certificate with a 2.5 GPA and “C” or higher in each course; or
- Associate degree or higher.
- Admission Criteria:
- Successful program interview
- Acceptable criminal background check and drug
screening results
- High school diploma or equivalent
If you use test scores to qualify, they must be within 3 years.
Expanded Duty Dental Assisting:
- Acceptable interview eligibility criteria:
- MTC ASSET: reading 45, mathematics 40, algebra 36
and writing sample score of 30; or
- COMPASS: reading 88, pre-algebra 44 and writing
sample score of 30; or
- SAT 840 (minimum verbal 400) and writing sample
score of 30; or
- ACT 18 (minimum verbal 17) and writing sample
score of 30; or
- HOBET 50 composite percent (minimum reading 50
percent; mathematics 50 percent) and MTC writing sample score of 30; or
- Successful completion of the Pre-Health Care
certificate with a 2.5 GPA and “C” or higher in each course. (After
completion of ENG 101, MAT 101, BIO110 or BIO 112, BIO 110/BIO
112, PSY 201 with a 2.5 GPA, a student may request the Program Director
to waive the remainder of the Pre-Health Care Certificate.)
