This three-semester Court Reporting certificate is designed to prepare students for jobs in county and state courts, with government agencies or with private firms. Students may enter the program only after completion of the Computer-Aided Transcription certificate.
The Court Reporting Certificate program is approved by the National Court Reporters Association. The association sets requirements for graduation as follows:
Shorthand speed - a minimum of three five-minute tests with 95%

Typing: at least two five-minute timed writings from unfamiliar material at a minimum speed of 60 GWPM with a maximum of five errors.
Internship: at least 50 verified hours with a minimum of 40 hours of actual writing time with a working reporter and 40 pages of transcription.
Transcription: a minimum rate of ten pages of transcript in two hours.
Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in all of the courses offered within the Business and Information Systems Technology departments for the grade to be counted toward graduation. Specifically, these include courses with the following prefixes: ACC, BAF, BUS, CPT, CRP, EGR, HUS, IST, LEG, MGT, MKT and OST.
