Course description: This course is a study of the duties of a Supervisor, the skills and characteristics required, and the tasks required in order to assure the accomplishment of the organizations’ goals and objectives.  Also, the course will address the skills and tasks of leadership and how this talent enhances the process of supervision.

 

MGT 150 Course Objectives:

  1. Define what a Supervisor is.
  2. Describe the basic types of supervisory skills.
  3. Describe how the growing diversity of the workforce affects the supervisor's role.
  4. Identify the general functions of a Supervisor.
  5. Explain how Supervisors are responsible to higher management, employees, and co-workers.
  6. Describe the typical background of someone who is promoted to Supervisor.
  7. Identify characteristics of a successful Supervisor.
  8. Understand leadership & why it is important.
  9. Determine whether you possess the 10 qualities of a Leader.
  10. Determine the characteristics of Followers.
  11. Deal with Leadership situational factors.
  12. Understand the motive to lead.
  13. Understand Leadership ethics, the role of values, and some of the ethics at work.
  14. Understand Leadership authority.
  15. Understand the Team concept.
