| PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN ONLINE REGISTRATION
If a student's major is a program that does not participate in online registration, the student will meet with a program advisor. The program advisor will list required courses and any alternates on the student's advisement form, sign the form, and direct the student to Online Student Services to look up open sections, then go to Student Records for data entry. If the student's major area is an allied health or nursing program, and if the student has qualified, been accepted, and has enrolled in an allied health or nursing program, the student will meet with a program advisor. If a student's minor is an allied health or nursing program and the student is either in the preparatory track or qualified (i.e., eligible for interview), the student will be advised in the Airport Campus New Student Advisement Center. Students in an undecided major status are advised by counselors in the Counseling Services Office until they have chosen a program of study. The time limit for this status is 12 credit hours in college-level courses. New students with a declared major and with no previous college course work at MTC or any other accredited college are advised by an Academic Advisor in the New Student Advisement Center. Special advising for new students may also be conducted by academic departments, in coordination with the New Student Advisement Center. Career Development students are assigned their first classes by the Admissions office. After the first semester, they are advised by faculty in the department most relevant to the course(s) in which the student wishes to enroll. Students enrolling in second session mini-semester (Fall II, Spring II, Summer II) who have not registered during the regular registration period at the beginning of the term will be advised in the New Student Advisement Center. Returning students with previous college course work at MTC or a first time MTC student with any other accredited college are advised by a faculty advisor in the student's program area. Visiting students without appropriate advisement documentation from their home institution must meet MTC course prerequisites and will be advised by MTC advisors. |
