In-Focus

Solomon B. Solomon B.

Hi, my name is Solomon and I would love to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a freshman at Midlands Technical College and I’m close to completing my first year. I graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and have spent most of my life in South Carolina. I am currently involved into two MTC organizations: AAMLI (African American Male Leadership Institute) and SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise). In high school, I was the typical passive student, unaware of the many benefits of education; but now, through many sources of motivation, have found my light and path to success. I have a passion for music, and I’ve been a musician since the age of 2. In addition, I love basketball, reading, and writing. I must admit that the last two things mentioned (reading and writing) were never even thought of when I was in high school, at least not as a passion. Through constant motivation and encouragement from others I’ve learned to value education. I am now in the Associate in Science Program at MTC with plans to transfer to Clemson in pursuit of Architectural Engineering. You too can be successful and achieve great things while at MTC. The MTC slogan says, You Can Get Anywhere From Here, and I’m here to encourage you that if you truly believe it you really can. I believe that motivation, although often times given by others, primarily starts from within. The sky is the limit….just reach for it.
